Another fun club day at PIR. It rained overnight and the first session of the day was pretty precarious. I rode with Roy and the car was sliding all over the place, so speeds were pretty low. Things cleared up nicely for the latter sessions. During the third session a white E36 M3 spun right in front of us. The video camera was on, so once Roy gets back from Europe the video will (hopefully) be available.
Noteworthy appearances included a blue Mini Cooper, which is very surprising in Portland since Rasmussen BMW hasn't completed their showroom yet so they don't have any Minis. This guy picked up the car earlier in the week somewhere in the midwest and drove it back. Even though he only had the car for a few days, the long roadtrip got the breakin period over with, so it was time for a track day! There were also two M Coupes from the Seattle area (a black one and a Dakar yellow one). There was also a great looking Ferrari 360 Modena running in the novice session (it was on the track for the first time, I believe). Before the first novice session I told Paulyne to be sure and pass the Ferrari, and she came through (see below)!
Time for the typical picture excuses. The last track day I used an ASA 400 print film that was rather dull. This time I used an ASA 100 slide film. Problem was I was being a bit too concerned about shutter speed and thus didn't stop down the lens enough to get enough depth of field in many of the pictures with multiple cars. Oh well, I'm still learning this track photography thing! :-) Next time should be better. As always, all images are copyright © 2002 David Paris.
Next track day I may actually take my 'coupe out on the track! *gasp* We'll see if I can think up a good excuse before then... On to the pictures!
